About the Play:

Black Coffee plays around with a “chance” encounter in a coffee shop and the often- uncomfortable energy that must be expended to make a connection with another possible kindred soul.

About the Playwright:

Biography: Deanna Ableser is a theatre teacher at Dana Middle School in Hawthorne, California. Deanna was the recipient of the 2006 VSA Playwright Discovery Teacher Award and was honored at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  Brooklyn Publishers and youthplays.com currently publish her plays.

About the Director:

Catherine Blake Smith is a budding dramaturg, director, and playwright and recent transplant to the Seattle area. A graduate of the School of Theatre Arts at Illinois Wesleyan University, Catherine has worked with Macha Monkey, Stone Soup, Annex, and more. She currently serves as Literary Manager for Macha Monkey Theatre.
